Case Study: Willoughby Rose × Cutlist
27 January 2026
Streamlining bespoke cabinetry through Microvellum-driven CNC manufacturing
Background
Willoughby Rose is a bespoke cabinetry business delivering made-to-measure kitchens, wardrobes and media walls, alongside a growing supply-only, flat-pack offering.
As demand increased and projects became more complex, the team needed a way to scale production without expanding their workshop or investing in additional machinery. While adopting Microvellum significantly improved design accuracy and production planning, internal manufacturing capacity quickly became the bottleneck.
To unlock growth without increasing overheads, Willoughby Rose partnered with Cutlist - extending their Microvellum workflow directly into CNC manufacture and removing constraints on output, speed and consistency.
Approach
Cutlist integrated seamlessly into Willoughby Rose’s existing Microvellum-led process.
Each project is fully designed, detailed and prepared for manufacture within Microvellum. Once finalised, production-ready data is generated directly from the system and sent straight to Cutlist - eliminating manual interpretation, rework or duplication of effort.
Cutlist provides CNC machining, beam saw cutting and edge banding, delivering components that are cut precisely to spec and fully aligned with the Microvellum output. With support from Cutlist’s technical team and Microvellum training, onboarding was fast and frictionless.
The result is a joined-up design-to-manufacture workflow that combines Microvellum’s precision with Cutlist’s scale, speed and reliability.
Impact
By outsourcing CNC production to Cutlist, Willoughby Rose has removed a critical bottleneck in their operation.
Output has increased while errors and rework have been reduced to a minimum. CNC drilling for hardware has significantly shortened production times, speeding up assembly and easing pressure on the workshop team.
Crucially, this increased capacity has been achieved without expanding premises or investing in additional machinery. Cutlist provides industrial-grade manufacturing capability on demand, allowing Willoughby Rose to scale flexibly while keeping overheads under control.
With production handled by a trusted partner, the team can focus on high-quality design, finishing detail and customer experience - confidently taking on more complex and higher-volume projects.
Testimonial
“What we value most about working with Cutlist is the reliability and consistency they bring to our production process. Their CNC service is accurate, fast and completely aligned with the data we produce in Microvellum, which removes stress and uncertainty from our workflow. Knowing that every job will be cut precisely to spec allows us to focus on design, quality and customer service rather than troubleshooting manufacturing issues. That level of trust and dependability has made Cutlist an essential partner in our growth.”
