From Board to Build: How Your Order Moves Through Our Workshop
04 November 2025
Behind every perfectly cut panel is a carefully honed process.
When you place an order with Cutlist, you’re not just getting a product, you’re tapping into ten years of producing panels efficiently and accurately. Here’s how we turn your order into reality.
Step 1: Upload and Review
Your journey starts with our online ordering system, where you upload your cutting list or configure your parts directly. Our production team will calculate the material requirements and email over a quote. We always recommend checking your cutting list over. If you have any amendments or design changes, you can easily update the cutting list online and resubmit it. Once finalised, we can take payment from you and book your order in. You will then receive an email with a confirmed delivery/collection date.
Step 2: Cutting
Using a state-of-the-art Homag beam saw, our software optimises each panel layout to reduce waste - saving time, cost, and materials. Each cut is crisp and straight. We work off a saw kerf of 5mm, and we take 15mm trim cuts on each edge of the board to ensure we’re working with a damage-free, clean sheet of material. For material with any grain direction, we always cut the length of the board with the grain. We apply stickers to all our panels, so you’ll have your panel reference on each panel to help you with production.
Step 3: Edge Banding
Next, the panels move to our edge banding line. Again, we use a state-of-the-art Homag edge bander that delivers consistent and clean finishes every time. Whether it’s Matching ABS, Veneer, or Paintable ABS edging, we can apply it to every edge of every panel, or just the ones you need. We can keep edges 1mm square or go for 2mm to select between square or radius profiles. To edge band both lengths, we require a minimum width of 70mm; anything narrower than this, we would only be able to edge one length by putting a recut in.
Step 4: Quality Check
Every item passes through a thorough inspection - checking size, finish, and accuracy. Our attention to detail is what keeps customers coming back. It is inevitable that issues arise as we are dealing with fragile and damage-prone materials. When we do, we will do our best to resolve them without you ever knowing. For those rare instances where we can’t, you’ll be kept up to date at every stage, and we will pull out all the stops to keep to our agreed schedule. We deliver 99% of our orders on time and in full, so you can feel confident that you’re using a supplier who’ll work alongside you to get your project delivered.
Step 5: Packing & Delivery
Finally, we carefully package each order to prevent transit damage and get it to you safely - ready for immediate use in your workshop or on site. Orders are stacked, wrapped, and carefully lifted onto our own fleet of delivery vehicles. On your end, panels can be unloaded by hand or by forklift.
This process runs smoothly because of our team of skilled operators who understand what you need as a furniture maker. We’ve built our systems to save you time, reduce hassle, and give you complete confidence in every delivery.
