Birch Plywood
02 December 2019
Birch plywood has, for many years, been respected as a high-end product within the furniture and interior industries.
Its appeal comes in many forms but most people are attracted to Birch ply for its strength. This stuff is tough! Super-strong! Other attractions include the beauty of the end-grain, which most people choose to leave on show, and why not.
Birch plywood comes in a variety of finishes including white melamine-faced ply, Oak veneered ply, American Black Walnut veneered ply, natural Birch finish. A choice of quality is available, we like to supply a high quality BB/BB grade as our ‘standard’ board, and an S+/BB or B/BB grade ply as a higher grade alternative.
The high grade Birch plywood has fewer defects and knots in it so the chance of seeing a plug (repair) in the face of the board is decreased. With this said, the quality of the BB/BB Birch ply we prefer to supply is so good that the defects are few and far between.
We offer in-house spray lacquering on our Birch plywood boards. Simply choose your board and thickness, and select lacquered finish on your order form to add this to your project. We apply the finish after your panels are cut so the edges get a nice coat of lacquer too. We sand edges which require lacquering so be sure to select edges as required at the time of order.
